$70/hr check, $60/hr cash, unless otherwise noted
Swedish/Deep Tissue: This style is done in the nude with a selection of lotions, oils and liniments. My standard session incorporates these modalities with some sports massage and stretching where appropriate. Deep tissue and sports massage take longer than the lighter, flowing Swedish massage, therefore I recommend 1.5 hours if you like deep work.
This is my favorite type of massage to receive and to give. I love the "hurts so good" feeling of a deep massage that really works out my kinks and some old injuries. Since I am a cyclist, I especially enjoy working with athletes and understand well the kinds of stress that it puts on the body. I have also worked quite a bit with folks that use computers and experience strain in their necks, shoulders and arms. I encourage work between our massage sessions by showing you stretches that can help improve your problem areas.
I have received advanced training in working with trigger points, which can be extremely effective if applied consistently for injury recovery. It serves to loosen up the scar tissue that prevents muscle flexibility. I have also studied the neck and shoulders extensively and have had positive results with my clients. Finally, I specialize in postural analysis for chronic injuries and working with the Nueural-Muscular connections to retrain your mind and body towards a neutral posture.
Thai (1.5 hours): My full Thai session is done on a mat on the floor fully clothed. It involves deep stretching combined with presses. It is very intense and also known as “Lazy Man’s Yoga” since the recipient feels that they have exercised without having to move themselves at all!
East Meets West (1.5 hours): This massage combines the best of both worlds. Deep tissue on the upper body and Thai on the lower body. This massage is done on the table. Plan to wear stretchy bottoms and to remove your clothing on top, you will be covered with a sheet.
Hot Stone ($100/1.25 hr check, $90 cash): This Swedish-based massage involves both the placing of hot stones on the body and the gliding of the stones with oil. It is especially a favorite in winter months!
For Individuals with Special Needs:
Prenatal Massage: Massage can provide much relief to a pregnant woman’s rapidly changing body. In latter parts of her pregnancy, she may be having trouble sleeping due to physical discomfort. Massage not only provides physical relief, but emotional support and rest. Any birth has some anxiety associated with it and massage can provide a great relief to that. Clients may benefit from massage even in early labor or the day before a scheduled c-section.
Oncology Massage: Individuals who have or have had cancer often have special needs when receiving massage due to the body's reaction to treatment. For someone currently living with cancer, I recommend a 1 hour session.
Elder Massage: Both Swedish and Thai massage are great for elders. Swedish is relaxing and soothing, while Thai is lengthening and invigorating. I recommend a 1 hour session for an elder’s first visit.
Infant Massage: $100 This in-home consultation includes supplies and training for your whole family to provide your infant ongoing massage. In addition to demonstrating the massage, the session includes a bottle of organic baby massage oil and a book on infant massage.
Gift certificates $60/hr, $80/ 1.5 hr
There are many occasions for which a gift certificate is appropriate. I have sold gift certificates for baby showers, birthdays and thank you gifts. It is a great way to encourage someone to do something special for themselves and to introduce them to a massage therapist that you love! |
