
This trail is at the other end of Mountain Loop Highway, near Arlington, WA. Since the highway is closed due to a washout, we drove the long way around to get there, which is still only about an hour. The last portion is on a 4+ mile gravel road. The greatest thing about the trail is the beautiful waterfall, which is only about 1.5 miles down.

The walk, like most of the hikes up here is through the most beautiful forest. We saw a bunch of wildflowers, mostly yellow violets, salal and trillium or Western Wake Robin, as pictured above..

There are parts of the river that are almost cavernous, it is so narrow.

And other times it is much more open.

There is also another fall a few miles past the first, but it is not nearly as spectacular as the first, and I am not even sure if it is year-round.
